Albam's new web photography

A welcome addition to Albam's website is some new photography, which features the clothing being worn by a model instead of being displayed on a coat hanger. Far preferable if you ask me. Albam make some great stuff, which looks even better on real people.

Walker Evans

A brief tribute to the photographs of Walker Evans, chronicler of Depression era America. Evans's lens found a haunting beauty in the faces of the poor and hungry as well as the facades of numerous down-at-heel businesses.

Absolutely my favourite picture of the last six months

Taken by Don Cox for the book "The Birth of Hot Rodding." Some great American classic clothing in there. And the car's pretty cool too. Courtesy of the Craftworkwear blog.

Manga Dreams by Anderson & Low

Went to see the exhibition 'Manga Dreams' at the Hamiltons Gallery in Mayfair a couple of nights ago. The show features a series of Manga-style portraits by the much-lauded photographic duo Jonathan Anderson and Edwin Low, whose previous work includes studies of honed Olympic athletes and graceful circus artistes. I really like the the way the images fuse photography with traditional Japanese comic-book art, something that works well with the larger scale tableaux. The shots I've posted here really don't do the exhibition justice - try and get along to see it before it closes on March 5th.
