I've been following collage artist John Stezaker for the last couple of years. Now in his mid-sixties, Stezaker creates collages using a variety of images which he juxtaposes in a witty, but slightly disturbing way. Film stills, publicity shots postcards and other ephemera are all sliced up and re-mixed for maximum visual effect. Recently he had a retrospective at the Whitechapel and I came away wishing I'd bought some of his work when it was still relatively inexpensive. Now he's won the Deutsche Börse photography prize, I should imagine the prices have gone through the roof. Anyway, here are some of the works that helped him win his recent award.

The cheapest military-style watch you can buy?
Love the simplicity of Urban Outfitters' Classic Field Watch which comes on a nato strap (personally I think it'd look a whole lot better on plain grey though). But the best thing about it is the fact it costs only £28. Yes, I know it's not a Cyma or a Benrus or even a Timex. But at these prices who cares? You can do the gardening or paint the shed while wearing it, with a clear conscience.
